Not more than a decade ago looking up information for your upcoming assignment would mean drowning yourself, neck high, into a library, skimming through all the books until you got what you wanted. Today, however, things have changed with the refreshing arrival of the digital age, a conveniently fast internet connection and a worldwide web of infinite information. The information being as specific as the requirement demands.
Books are undoubtfully the primary source of knowledge for everyone. These were books that help change the world and bring all technological advancements to it. Books have been written, distributed, published and gifted since time immemorial. In fact, books make great gifts and it is considered to be a great honor for the receiver and giver of the gift.
The question one asks now is whether this advent of the computer is a blessing or a menace. I’d go with menace without even a second thought to the matter. One of the reason why is because of the authenticity of the contents of a book. All referential and academic books are written by people who have spent the greater part of their lives dedicated to the topic but could you honestly say that about the bloggers or the online content writers we so blindly read from and believe? The answer for many is no. Books provide a safe and more viable medium for information.
One you could trust and learn from without wondering much about its authenticity which is how information should be. Having been brought up in the 21st century myself, I can’t completely be against the use of internet as a source of information since it has so many good things going on, but if there was a choice to be made between books and the former, I think the safer option to take would be books.
